Born on the Border Introduction

Media portrayals of Mexican Americans as criminals create a narrow, manufactured perspective that fuels negative stereotypes. There are so many untold stories of life on the United States-Mexico border.

This poetry collection is intended to paint a fuller picture of what it is to be Mexican American from a border town.

This collection explores topics such as the identity of two countries, family dynamics, the grit of generations breaking out of poverty, and the simple parts of your environment you adore.

This collection serves as a look into my life as someone from the border town of Brownsville, Texas, USA which borders the Mexican city of Matamoros, Tamaulipas.

I hope this book provides Hispanic people with a perspective they can relate to that does not paint them in an evil light. I have written works that I believe will help people feel seen, and I hope I have created something that will inspire them to write about their experiences, as well.
